J.D./M.A. Degree Requirements
Students usually start with courses in the School of Law. JD candidates take courses such as the following:
- First year: Civil Procedure, Contracts, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Lawyering, Property, and Torts
- Upper-Class: Commercial Law: Secured Transactions, Constitutional Law, Evidence, and Professional Responsibility
- Law courses required of all joint degree candidates: Administrative Law, Legislation, Jurisprudence
For the Political Science portion, students take POLS 705: Research Design for Political Science and POLS 706: Research Methods I. Students also take graduate level courses in Political Science numbered 700 or above.
