Sierra Watt

Sierra K. Watt is a doctoral candidate in Political Science at the University of Kansas and a 2018-2019 Ford Foundation Dissertation Fellow. Her subfields are American politics and public policy. She also holds two graduate certificates in Indigenous Studies and Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies. Her dissertation measures where Native American women hold tribal office and the contributing factors. Her areas of interest include the politics of race and ethnicity, gender and politics, political behavior and environmental policy. She been a research assistant for projects on human trafficking, reproductive health policy, and concealed carry policies. Her writing has been featured in Women, Gender & Families of Color, Native American & Indigenous Studies, News from Native California and Global Tides.
