Grace Gao

Grace (Yuxuan) Gao is a Ph.D. student in Political Science at the University of Kansas. Her research sits at the intersection of Comparative Politics, American Politics and Public Policy, focusing on migration policy and the socio-political incorporation of migrants and mobile populations in rapidly changing Asian societies. Her emerging work turns to political behavior and psychology, examining how migrants respond to policy shifts and to formal and informal institutions, and how these responses take shape through local, micro-level experiences.

Before pursuing her Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of Kansas, Gao earned an M.A. in East Asian Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and B.A. in Public Policy and Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
